John Martone is a writer working in the great tradition of the self-published poet bookmaker, adept at one as at the other. His self-printed chapbooks are as spare and elegant as his poems. He is also the author of a series of essays and the originator of poetry projects, such as, tel-let, which began in 1987 as an extension of correspondence among poets and grew to be a meeting place which is now in on-line format and can be accessed by Martone’s website which also includes samples of his poetry and essays.
