The Station Hill Intermedia Lab presents aperipheries, an hour-long trance language experience featuring works by Kay Prevallet, unfolded in tandem with the trance healing soundscapes of Peter Blum, and some slow-cinema visual immersions. In this hour, we invite you to sit back, relax, and dive deeply into the underlying strata – the syntax – of language, channeled by Kay into poetic forms which allow language to sift and reveal mental movements that flow into alignment with bio diversity, racial justice, and borderless love that is not flesh-bound alone. This piece asks the question: If it is language that makes worlds, then one role of the poet is to reveal poeisis: the making of a world in language that embodies change, even as it is in flux. This performance contains seeds of story and myth that intersect with the future in this moment; the underlying high stake: we must believe that change is possible, and that language is the medicine.
